Sparkling Cinnamon is a great scent from Yankee Candle Company. I wouldn't call it the freshest cinnamon fragrance I have ever smelled, but it is a yummy cinnamon. The candle itself is a pretty one. The label is nice and has a holiday touch to it. The color of the wax is beautiful also. I purchased this in a large jar, which comes with a lid and is 22 ounces. It is my favorite size to buy, because I believe it offers the best value possible for the wax, overall.
I can recommend this candle, but with a few tips to keep in mind. Make sure to trim the wicks to 1/4 inch each time. If black soot gathers around the glass, wipe off with a tissue or cloth. Burn the wax till you get a full wax pool every time. As always, never leave a candle unattended, and this is true for all candles. It would be better to have awful tunneling issues over a burned down house, apartment, or condo, etc.

I was going to give it an honest review, and frankly I braced for the worst after seeing a couple not so positive reviews. I saw the reviews after I had already purchased the candle at TJMaxx for 6.99. I thought that I did want to try it at least once, as the cold throw on the candle was very nice and interesting.

First of all, birthday cake is comprised of three different fragrances layered on one another. The individual fragrances are sprinkles, frosting, and vanilla. I am still on the top layer actually, and happy to report that with an illuma-lid, this candle burns and smells amazing.

It had to grow in the level of fragrance concentration some, or so it seemed. The more I burned it, the more wowed I became. Just before blowing the candle out this evening, it smelled like I had just put the mix of a cake into a bowl and was about to bake it, combined with having just taken a freshly baked cake out of the oven. I kid you not, the smell is about dead on in this regard, and with my baking experience.

I will tell you what I did with this candle and will do again if I purchase more. I would look for wax that looks to have a lot of oil in it and throughout the candle. If it looks more "dry", I may lay off. Also, I will want a strong cold throw, because on some it doesn't have too strong of a fragrance on the initial whiff of it.

I kept the wick trimmed, as I hate it when black smoke started to come off the lit wick. I had to use an illuma-lid, and it seems to correct itself for the most part as far as residue on the side. I still can't get over how great the throw can be.

Also, the lady at TJMaxx told me yesterday that Brookside Candles are very nice ones, out of the blue. This was also before burning this candle, and I thought it was interesting that she particularly pointed this brand out. Now I see why!

A final thought, is that this looks very close to the fonts and picture and design that you might see with Yankee Candle but that could just be a chosen look. jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-55308411854779354332013-10-08T19:50:00.001-07:002013-10-08T19:52:29.116-07:00California Redwood Candle Review - World Journeys - Yankee CandleThe World Journeys Line is an amazing one by Yankee Candle. I purchased and have burned my first one today, California Redwood. I was so curious what this would smell like when a good wax pool had formed. Well it is more intense than than what the cold throw smells like, and wow, how interesting! I have been in and around California Redwood Trees, and can honestly tell you that to me, this smells just like a California Redwood tree!

The Redwoods are amazing trees, something to behold. Their scent is unique. This candle says it has natural extracts in it. What really gets me is how simple and interesting this candle is. The smell is spot on, and a very rich and handsome, and woodsy smell.

The burn is beautiful, with the two wicks in a large tumbler. Once melting, the wax pool is beautiful as well, with the two lit wicks. I didn't trim the wicks at all before burning, and the pool melted out to the edges nicely.

The little photos on the label are beautiful, and it reminds me of the redwood trees. In fact, upon really smelling the hot wax after extinguishing the flame, the scent took me back mentally to a time long ago as scents often can. In this case, it would be a little over two decades ago. An outdoorsy smell that I love. I am so glad I tried it. I had to write a review because I couldn't find one on this candle for a person that had burned it in blog form, or even on Youtube. I could have just missed it, but I looked and looked.

If you are a collector of this line, this is a neat one to try, but may not be everyone's cup of tea. I like it, and enjoy the break from bakery and fruity scents that I normally like. A very handsome candle! jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-57037496878053902782013-10-06T19:07:00.002-07:002013-10-06T19:07:43.693-07:00Autumn Wreath Candle Review - Yankee Candle Large Jar 22 oz.Autumn Wreath was the scent we picked out for this fall, among many other great ones that Yankee Candle Offers. It has been described as having a cinnamon apples and autumn leaves smell. It has cinnamon and other spices that I can detect some of. I was debating between this and a couple of others and chose this. It smells heavenly.

We have burned it now several times and I trim the wick each time to keep it from getting too long and smoking and giving of the black soot. When I keep the wick trimmed to just under a quarter of an inch, it does just fine and the wax pool fills out nicely to the edges every time. I do this without an Illuma-lid, which is nice. I do have one if the blackening occurs or I see black wisps of smoke coming up from the candle.

I thought originally it had some pumpkin in it, but I think it doesn't and as much as I love pumpkin, this is just fine. I have other pumpkin scents I can burn as needed. This candle is lovely and complete and I can highly recommend it 100%.

I give it two thumbs up, and an A+, and I would purchase it again. It may become a signature fall scent for our family and may also be one we burn at other times of the year. Try it if you have not! It would be great to have burning when company comes over. It looks nice and classy and the color is muted and nice. The wreath on the picture is pretty. I love this candle.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-17494594213074915222013-10-06T06:36:00.001-07:002013-10-06T06:37:27.209-07:00Summer Slices Candle Review - VIllage Candle Boxed VotiveThis review is for a Summer Slices Candle, which is I made by Village Candle. I remember buying this candle in a nice little mountain area in Southern California many years ago. It was in a neat little area, Big Bear I believe, and the shop was a fun little place. But getting to the candle review, I first noticed that these came in a clear plastic box with a pretty label on it. The picture is of many thick watermelon slices and some whole cucumbers and sliced cucumbers as well.

I wanted to smell the candle, and thought I might not be able to when I sniffed it, but I could right through the plastic. The fragrance was very nice! I really wanted it. The price was $1.50. I was there for a fun weekend, and got a couple different candles, and why not?

What is crazy is that I saved it for all these years, as I had just the one. I didn't want to burn it! I have since learned that many people do that, though I am not going to do that anymore. The reason is that the fragrance oils dry up, and you actually likely miss out on a really yummy candle burning experience. So to be fair to Village Candle, I had to share that.

That said, I could smell the fragrance from the candle and on the clear plastic box it came in. I didn't smell it very strong when burning, nor would I expect I would.

As for the candle burn, it was very clean and nice, and the wick wasn't crazy flickering like many candle wicks can.

However, I did burn it for a long time, and some of the blackened wick pieces broke off and fell to the bottom of the wax pool. It burned down completely perfect, until the end when the extra wick pieces kind of caught fire again and I had a mini camp fire going! It is just another reason to not let your candles burn unattended. It was in a good container, but you do have to watch all candles when burning, to avoid a fire hazard. jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-11552861723888042212013-10-05T10:49:00.001-07:002013-10-06T06:23:55.605-07:00Cucumber and Cantaloupe Candle Review - Yankee Candle VotiveThis review is for the Cucumber and Cantaloupe votive by Yankee Candle. The candle was 1.75 ounces. In complete fairness to Yankee, this was on an extreme clearance of 75% off, which made it a winner no matter what in my book! However, you can only expect so much in the way of candle throw with a possibly very old candle. So now that that has been said, this is my experience.

The candle burned alright, nothing that knocked my socks off. It did leave a little bit of residue in the candle holder I burned it in, enough to have to have to take a butter knife to clear out for the next candle. The burn was even and good until that time.

As for the fragrance, it did not have that much. Votive candles can be tricky in that regard though. There just isn't that much throw to a small candle. That said, I have had some that put of a fair amount of fragrance.

The cold throw was still pleasant and nice. It made for wonderful relaxation and ambiance. It would have been perfect to burn over on the mantle over the fireplace like I like to sometimes do when we have dinner. In those situations you don't really want a strong throw anyway.

I love Yankee, but these didn't knock my socks off. Still happy for the great deal though! I will look forward to giving this candle a better chance in the future should I find a more freshly poured one however.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-2390140256855903212013-10-03T14:19:00.001-07:002013-10-03T14:19:53.689-07:00Chocolate Mint Votie Review - Colonial Candle of Cape CodThis candle was hard to burn initially, because it just smelled so amazing and wonderful. I finally burned this amazing votive however, and it burned beautifully.

The burn itself was clean, and smooth. The wick and flame burned very "still", and was actually beautiful to watch, strange as that might sound. I had to focus on this actually, because I waited so long before burning it, that I lost a lot of the fragrance. That there was any left, is what is amazing.

The color was a nice mint color, and it smelled like very yummy mint chocolate. I think that chocolate mint is maybe one of my favorite fragrances of all time.

It burned several hours before burning completely away, to where the wick holder was only left. In fact, I didn't even have to clean out the holder before putting in a new candle to burn. That is impressive, as I don't often get that with many of my other nice candles.

I would highly recommend this candle if you can find them now. I am not sure they are still in production, but I wish they were. Lovely candles by Colonial Candle of Cape Cod. Loved it!jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-5692812452747580652013-09-30T20:19:00.001-07:002013-09-30T20:19:53.186-07:00Cinnamon Chai WoodWick Candle Wax ReviewWoodWick Candles have got my attention, and I have grown to love them to a large degree. Currently, one of the things I am melting is the wax from a Cinnamon Chai WoodWick Candle. I honestly wasn't sure exactly what to think at first. Then it grew on me.

Upon the initial melt, the smell is alright, and kinda good. Upon a longer period of being melted however, the scent becomes very nice! It smells of cinnamon and vanilla, and like Chai tea all mixed together.

It is a pleasant aroma, and fills my bathroom and moves out into my master bedroom which is nice for the throw, because there is a raised ceiling in there. So there is great throw to these candles.

If you are trying to decide whether or not to purchase one of these candles, why not try it? I would recommend trying it once. It is very nice. I imagine the burning with the new wicks that are in the shape of an "x", or a plus sign will work even better than the old ones.

I love and recommend Cinnamon Chai by WoodWick. jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-50781014618452395882013-09-28T06:48:00.002-07:002013-09-28T06:48:57.433-07:00Glazed Pumpkin Wood Wick Candle Review

This is a fun little candle I got a while back at Kirlin's Hallmark Card Store. I love that Hallmark carries the Wood Wick and Yankee candles, especially since I no longer have a Yankee Candle store right near me. At any rate, I love to get my Wood Wicks from Hallmark and this was one of them.

This was part of a promotion actually. The container is absolutely cute as you can see!I love it. It can be reused as well after the fact.

Glazed Pumpkin Fragrance is rather interesting. The cold smell of this candle is very nice, with a hint of cinnamon, butter and pumpkin, and almost a cinnamon roll smell to it. Now before I say the next comment I must be fair to Wood Wick, as I think they have newer and better wicks now than before, perhaps. Ever since I burned this candle, I smell the burnt wick in it as well as the yummy fragrance. This is true for both the cold smell of the candle, as well as when it is lit. So I think it doesn't quite sabotage the candle fragrance but almost.

When I light this candle, it smells good too, and very buttery, almost pop corn smell like though that sounds awful for this candle. Don't let that deter you though. It smells more like a cinnamon and pumpkin buttery treat when lit, than anything. Pumpkin isn't the strongest, but it does have a good throw overall in the room it is lit in.

So, it is worth a try for sure, but I am not fond of the burnt wood smell, which would come with a burnt wood wick. Like I said, don't count this against Wood wick as they have updated their wicks as of late. They have a new fall scent out right now at the Hallmark stores, and it is a great deal as well. Why not try it?

jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-58105732819457344172013-09-26T20:49:00.001-07:002013-09-26T20:49:58.045-07:00Midnight Cove Yankee Candle ReviewYankee Candle made a fragrance called Midnight Cove a while back. You can still find this lovely fragrance here and there, and I hope it comes back to the traditional or classics line in the stores someday!

Midnight Cove is described a few different ways that I have seen, from mysterious, refreshing, romantic and mysterious. I have seen it say that it reminds you of a secluded cove on a beach, and that you can practically smell the sea salt in the air, etc.

I was looking in particular for the description of the fragrance and it wasn't easy to find! It is described as fresh and beautiful. The large jar I got was the house warmer candle jar. It is the largest jar Yankee Candle makes, and is 22 ounces.

One of the things I love about this candle is the picture on the label. To be honest, I think this is partly what sold me on the candle! It looks like the end of the day, or a very dark and cloudy day but blue skies and clouds. There is like a mist in the ocean, where the waves meet the rocks. There is a lighthouse up on the rocks with a light on inside of it. Truly, it is beautiful and has a feel all its own.

The deep rich ocean blue color is nice as well. Personally, I love the fragrance very much and wasn't disappointed at all. I honestly don't recall the throw very well, but I think it was a good throw because even after a very long time, the little bit of wax left in the bottom of the jar still smells amazing. That can't be easy for fragrant oil to last so long. I don't remember struggling with the candle having blackening issues. I don't like it when a wick has to be trimmed super short to avoid blackening of the candle. This didn't seem to be a problem.

I give it two thumbs up, and I would definitely buy it again. If only Yankee Candle would bring Midnight Cove back into production! I love this candle truly. jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-70245525370761230302013-09-23T10:45:00.000-07:002013-09-23T10:45:20.506-07:00Cherry Lemonade Yankee Candle Review - Large 22 oz.

Cherry Lemonade is a fun fragrance to try. I believe I got this when they were having a 25% off sale at Kirlin's Hallmark a while back. It was one way I tried new fragrances that smelled good to me. I bought many a candle that way!

This fragrance smells just as it does on the cold smell. It smells like a yummy citrus with cherries. It smells like lemons and cherries. I smell the citrus a little more, and it is almost reminds me a bit of lime. That could just be my nose.

It was fun and easy to burn if I kept the wick trimmed. It is a beautiful color. I loved the color of pink it was. It burned down nice and clean if you burn it long enough periods at a time.

I would probably get this again, but with all the other fragrances it may not be my first pick. I love how cheerful it looks. A great candle!
Large Jar

Key Lime Pie by Yankee Candle might be one of my favorite scents. It is a true comfort food smell. I love the citrus, the sweet vanilla or whipped cream smell, as well as the subtle crust smell. The combination makes it smell just like an amazing Key Lime Pie. The color is fun and different, and the smell is just very yummy. If you are considering getting this candle or tart, I would say try it!

As for burning, I had trouble with blackening until I purchased a wick trimmer from Yankee Candle. I had needed one anyway. In fairness, I often have a ceiling fan on so that may have contributed some to the flickering and thus the blackening. I cleaned it out on occasion so in the picture it isn't black.

I wish I had taken a photo earlier on than I did, as it is a nice candle in every way. You just really need to keep the wick trimmed down and give it plenty of time to burn and melt and make the wax pool. This is one I would get again, and it has a good throw to it. I am obviously toward the end of burning this and it smells as great as it did early on. I use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. A winner, hands down! jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-14206780160443284552013-09-19T21:45:00.000-07:002013-09-19T21:45:39.865-07:00Lavender Macaroon Scented Candle by Slatkin and Co. - ReviewSlatkin & Co. makes a lot of candles, and I hope to buy more in the future. Up to this point however, they are still rather new to me and I hesitate buying them for some reason. I was happy to try a small 1.6 oz version of Lavender Macaroon candle. It comes in this cute little heavy plastic container and they gave a little glass votive holder for it as well, if I recall. It seemed a safety feature I think.

I saw so many candles there, and wasn't sure really to start. When I saw the name of this one, I knew I had to smell it and maybe purchase it. I love both lavender and coconut smells like you have with macaroon cookies. It smelled pretty good on the cold smell version of the candle. The color was also very pretty and pleasing to the eye.

The fragrance of the melted wax was nice, and I used it in my bathroom mostly, while taking a bath. Toward the end of my time burning it, I recall wondering if it was going to last throughout that one relaxing bubble bath. It not only lasted, but burned hours into the night. I had to go and blow it out!

Then, I used it two more times in the bathroom after that. My point is that the little candle can burn and burn if you keep the wick trimmed. I was pretty impressed. I think I like the one wick candles better than the fast burning 3 wicks of Slatkin and Company. I recall feeling almost a little nervous at the level of heat put off and the intensity of the three wicks if I didn't keep them trimmed, etc. That may sound silly, but it is what it is. I loved the fragrances, but just had to get used to these candles.

The throw was pretty good on the Lavender Macaroon candle. I could smell a baked cookie smell, and not a lot of lavender which was fine because I am not sure how it would have worked if it was too strong with a vanilla and coconut cookie smell also. I would probably get this candle again.

I did forget to burn it in the glass container, and one little part of the top of the plastic container got just a very tiny bit melted, but not enough to blacken or really warp it.

A very fun scent overall, though it didn't make me crazy in love with it. I liked it a lot though! jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-4067590283059316402013-09-17T17:13:00.003-07:002013-09-17T17:13:55.895-07:00Mountain Lake Yankee Candle Review - Votive CandleThe Mountain Lake fragrance is one I had accidentally put off trying until this week. I had it in a votive form, and burned it in a simple glass votive holder. The kind where you can see it burn exactly as it is, which helps when reviewing candles.

The fragrance is actually quite lovely and beautiful. It would be great for both men and women alike. It is neither too manly or too feminine. It is almost just right, which makes me sound like I am describing a candle that could be from the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

It burned perfectly, and was pretty. A light blue grey color, it wasn't too flashy in that regard. It was kind of a subdued colored candle, which has its place when that is what you want.

I ought to mention that this candle is very distinct and separate from the nice Mountain Lodge candle, which is more brown in color. That one is nice as well, a favorite even. This one is super nice. If you can try it, I would.

For the throw, I want to be totally fair. Like I alluded to, this is an older candle and I put it off by accident by the time I got around to burning it. So it may not have been too strong of a throw for that reason. However, the throw didn't completely fill up the whole house. On top of this, I was recovering from a cold, so perhaps the fragrance was much stronger than I thought!

At the very least, this makes a lovely bathroom candle, and definitely and fully fragrances a smaller space like that. It likely would do the same for a bedroom or other room that wasn't a great room or something like that.

I have a feeling that you cannot currently find this candle at sale at Yankee Candle stores. However, it may come back to the classics or treasures section of the stores. That would be an excellent time to try it! Also, you can likely find it on many of the sites like Ebay and Amazon and other places on the net now. I give this two thumbs up for the beautiful fragrance that I probably couldn't have loved any more than I did. I actually was bummed when it was done burning, as that was my only one I had. jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-84561004733936672442012-06-28T20:06:00.003-07:002012-06-28T20:26:49.069-07:00Citrus Bouquet Candle by Marie Osmond - ReviewI wish I had burned this candle sooner. Poor thing, it fell "victim" to what I can sometimes do, that being saving something I really like a lot, for another time! I put it away, it was just too pretty and smelled too good to burn! How much sense does that make? Oh well, that said, I am giving a review for a burn two years later, to be fair to the candle and candle maker.

I had never heard of a Marie Osmond Candle, until I saw it was part of a neat promotion for her new line of purses being sold at my local Hallmark store. The purses were beautiful. These candles and their packaging were even more beautiful!

The candle came in a lovely box, with a nice lid that has what looks like a large diamond for the "handle" on the box. The design is classic and beautiful. The packaging was superb all around.

The candle I chose was not easy, but I settled on the Citrus Bouquet one. After two years, I finally chose to burn this beautiful thing. It still smells lovely when I hold it to my nose, pretty amazing huh? However, when I burn it, it doesn't have the best "throw." I forgive the candle that, because I waited too long to burn it. I still do smell it, and ought to burn it in a smaller space to get the full effect of it.

Beautiful, clean burn. One of the top things I can mention about this candle, is how pretty it looks while burning. You don't see the flame itself flickering, but the design on the side of the glass is very beautiful indeed. Its a gorgeous glow, really enjoyable, which adds to the ambience that many love about candles.

I would recommend this as a gift. The glass jar is decorated with sweet flowers, and worth saving. I would recommend it as a gift, and would love to receive one as a gift! Years later, it smells wonderful.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-56309473858538245702012-06-17T18:14:00.000-07:002012-06-17T18:14:09.055-07:00Mandarin Orange Vanilla Fusion - Candle ReviewThis candle caught my eye at a local boutique store that I love. The glass that these Fusion candles comes in is gorgeous, by the way. I absolutely love them. These are made by Wood Wick Candles and they are a true treat of a candle to burn.

What really got me, was that they were on sale. They are not inexpensive normally, as far as candles go. So this made it possible for me to justify parting with my dollars to get this lovely, amazing candle. That said, there were a couple more of these guys, and I wondered, will they be there long? I had never seen this particular candle before, and it smelled like heaven to me! Orange Mandarin and Vanilla? It was so nice.

The quick shop owner saw me considering this. She then made sure I was aware that there is lay away as an option in her store! Next thing I knew, I put these on lay away! It wasn't until later that I realize how much money I was spending on these candles. A couple of years later I still am burning one, and it smells as great as ever. I can save the glass containers, and use them for anything at all, they are just that nice.

The "throw" of these candles is great, and not overpowering. The fragrance is classy and sophisticated and lovely all around. I would be proud to burn this candle at any time. It would be so nice, say, for a nice party or get together. It would be attractive lit, and put on a mantle or anywhere you want to put a candle.

The only downside was that I personally had to pour off a little of the melted wax in another glass container. I kept that close, as the candle burned down a few days later, I needed some of that wax back, as the wick grew larger and put off some black smoke. Don't let this turn you off at all, its just how I personally like to maximize the wax I purchase in a candle I love.

Right now, I can hear that crackling sound that Wood Wick candles make, and it reminds me of a little fire burning. That is part of the ambiance that makes these candles so nice. This comes very highly recommmended. Its a very "green" candle as well, as you can happily re use the container. Nice oils used to create a lovely fragrance. Two thumbs up, Wood Wick, or rather, Virginia Candle Company!jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-69085868187097061342012-04-18T19:31:00.002-07:002012-04-18T19:39:58.320-07:00Sparkling Snow Candle ReviewSparkling Snow - By Yankee Candle

I bought this large jar candle from the Yankee store, months ago. It has been sitting in my candle stash for a little while now. So I always wonder about the fragrance of a candle when that happens.

I was not disappointed, and the scent is strong! Yankee describes it as partly snow covered pines, along with hints of patchouli and fruit. Its a "crispy scent", if I can say that, and also almost a version of a good smelling fabric softener, or a clean linen.

Now, when I burned it in my room, it began to be a bit much for me. So I moved it to the downstairs living room area. I had to trim the wick also, or else it let off black smoke. Well, that is the right location for it, as it smelled perfect there, and the "throw" was perfect. It is clean, and nice.

One more thing, the way this white candle burns, is very beautiful. It burns to a clear liquid pool, and is so nice. So, this candle comes recommended, and I would probably buy it again, but may be distracted by something I like just a little bit more. For a change though, and a nice, crisp, clean smell, this is a keeper for sure. Try it once!jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-2752190918761403432012-04-08T19:19:00.001-07:002012-04-08T19:23:53.319-07:00Chocolate Bunnies Candle ReviewChocolate Bunnies

I was at the Yankee Candle Store again recently, and had to purchase at least one votive candle of their new Chocolate Bunnies fragrance. I smelled it in the store, and was blown away by the great smelling chocolate flavor. Of course, the salesperson told me the best news of all, there is no calories ingested to burn one of these! You can smell rich chocolate without the guilt or calories!

So I took it home, and burned it the day before Easter, and some on Easter. My boys had been smelling it all day. The "throw" is very strong, I could smell it some upstairs. When I told my family the fragrance it was, they asked if that was what was smelling good all day! I told them it was.

Would I get this candle again? Sure I would! Its a nice smell, as long as someone doesn't walk in and wonder where the brownies are! Try is once, its a fun candle, I love it! We all did.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-51576336863661839782012-04-03T16:14:00.002-07:002012-04-03T16:17:59.555-07:00Sea Harbor Candle ReviewSea Harbor, by Yankee Candle is a candle that I just had to try once I saw it in the store. It has a beautiful picture of a lighthouse on the front, with the sea in the distance. The color blue is beautiful as well. When I picked it up to smell it, it smelled nice also.

I love the clean, nice, pleasant smell this puts off. If you are not a fan of stronger smelling candles, then you will REALLY like this candle, as it doesn't put off too much perfume. It is perfect for any room of the house I think, except at the dinner table perhaps.

I would highly recommend it, and will probably buy it again. I burned the votive size, and it was nice, in a little sea themed candle holder.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-1908259166799178642012-03-21T20:17:00.004-07:002012-04-05T12:59:40.185-07:00'Tis the Season Candle by Slatkin and Company - A ReviewThis candle smelled so good when I bought it. I picked it out quickly right after the season once when I was in the Bath and Body Works. It is a nice smelling little candle, and I was given a glass container to burn it in with the purpose.

It is not my favorite candle ever, but it is really nice, and a nice color. It burned almost all the candle wax away before it burned out. It is pretty fruity smelling, and I imagine many people might like it.

The "throw" is alright, and it smelled nice when I was walking around my house. I might not purchase it again, but not because I didn't like it, but just because there are so many others I like so much more.

When I was there, I noticed other people purchasing candles that seemed thoroughly addicted to them. A couple of the ladies even mentioned having to hide them from their husbands in the basement, or that their husbands knew the containers they came in and recognized them! Anyway, it was fun, and I am not totally addicted. Just a little bit. :)jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-76360123675079764462011-12-31T17:10:00.000-08:002011-12-31T17:24:37.030-08:00Cinnamon Chai Candle by Woodwick - A Review. What turned out to be a near disappointment, turned out to be ok. Let me explain.... I got the large jar, but the wick on this particular candle did NOT want to stay lit. It kept drowning in its own wax, and no matter what I did I couldn't recover it.

I turned it into a great use, rather than throw it away. These candles can be expensive, and I was so discouraged by this experience. It was great to have a tart warmer or burner however, as I just spooned scoops of this very soft wax into there, and got some great mileage out of the wax that way. It was not a total loss!

That said, I got to experience the full aroma in a different way, with my tart warmer. I will continue to get some great use this way until the fragrance is gone.

I wondered if it would have the same effect, or "throw" the candle would have given off. I wasn't disappointed, as I could smell it two rooms away when I came up the stairs the first day I used it in the tart warmer. Its a nice, sweet and spicy scent.

It is probably good to add also, that these candles sold VERY well, this scent in particular, at the one store I worked at. People came in wanting to smell it often and also often purchased it. So that might give an idea of its fame and popularity. I don't want to put down Woodwick in any way, but I sure do hope they got this kind of problem under control, just for their own sake. I am sure it was just a fluke, as I haven't had that much trouble since, with drowning wicks, to where I couldn't just drain off or scrape out some wax to save the candle. Try this fragrance, you may just love it like so many others.

While I didn't get to enjoy the crackling sound this candle normally gives off (like a fireplace, or wood burning) I can say the color is a very beautiful deep red color. Very rich looking.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-83529816924837865012011-12-04T13:38:00.000-08:002011-12-31T17:19:48.412-08:00Mistletoe Fragrance - Large Jar by Yankee Candle - A ReviewI purchased another large jar last year, but never burned it until this year. The fragrance is Yankee Candle Comapany. It was intentional to save the candle that long, but being more of a holiday fragrance, I wanted to wait on it.

I have been burning it this season, and have really been enjoying it so far. The biggest complaint I have, is the blackening of the jar from the wick as it get just the tiniest bit longer than a short clip. Granted, there are things you can do to minimize the black smoke, with their accessories, but if I don't need them, I would rather not use it or have to purchase them. I would rather use my money on more candles~!

This fragrance puts out a nice scent, handsome even. Not too fruity, flowery, or like a donut store, but a great scent for everyone. This is my opinion, and its just a nice classic candle I would probably purchase again. The blackening put a damper on a little, but its easily wiped off with a dry tissue, and I just keep the wicked trimmed very low.
A nice candle, with a beautiful color.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-31158259356688642852011-10-11T18:30:00.000-07:002011-10-11T18:35:59.637-07:00Blueberry Candle by Yankee Candle Company - A ReviewThis candle is a lovely dark blue color, just like blueberries. I had a friend that I was shopping with long ago when I lived in Georgia, that loved these blueberry candles by Yankee. I had to smell it, and we both bought one once on that shopping trip. I took that candle home, and enjoyed every minute that it burned. This was when they had those dainty glass lids, that you just lifted off, very nice.

A lot of time passed, and I had the opportunity to get one again but in a glass holder that doubles as a glass later on. It took be back to the winter time months when I burned it before, only this time it was late summer. The blueberry scent did well no matter when I burned it.

What surprised me most was how strong the scent was when I burned it, and how much it smelled just like blueberries. I would highly recommend it, and it seemed to last a good long time as well. There are other blueberry variations they have, but I haven't tried those recently. This one is classic and great.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-565994482352356595.post-34217315926548317882011-09-01T17:16:00.001-07:002011-10-07T22:08:55.552-07:001 dollar tart and votive Yankee Palooza Sale, that YCC has periodicallyToday I thought, "I will just drive by the Yankee store on the way out of this area" that I was in. So glad I did! I saw the big $1.00 sign, and pulled in quickly! I bought just a handful or handful and a half. Here is what I got today, mostly tarts this time.

The one votive I got was Over the River, and I also got a tart as well. Its one of my favorites of the new scents that came out. The other tarts I got were Kitchen Spice, Cherry berry Pie, Spice Cake, Vanilla Satin, and Pumpkin Buttercream. There was one other fall scent that I didn't get.

The two other tarts I got were Pink Sands, and Orange Dreamsicle, which I am very excited about!

As I got through these, I will let you know what I thought of each of them. I got the largest jar they carry, when it was on sale. It helps me to feel a little more justified getting it, haha. This scent is lovely, and enjoyable, and not too strong. One thing that I didn't expect was something my boys said when we got home after being gone for a full two weeks. Our house was not very air conditioned when we were gone, so now we would know what our house smelled like! My son said later on his facebook, "I never knew what my house smelled like before, it smells good." Or something like that. I thought so too. What I noticed later on, was that the candle I left on the table, top off, was my Lavender Vanilla Yankee Candle! What a testament to the great smell and oils that Yankee uses for their candles. If I am not mistaken, that is partly why my house smelled so good. You can't go wrong with this scent.jburketthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11706934788162129142noreply@blogger.com0
